GFDM013: Preslav Literary School & Fake Mistress - Radio Archiv
Radioarchiv is the live recording of a 'blind date' between Fake Mistress (DE) and Preslav Literary School (UK). The two artists met in the Funkwelle FM studio, Berlin on the 23rd July 2008 for the first time - one hour later, they had improvised a collaboration which was broadcast live-to-air on the Salon Bruit show.
Featuring Preslav Literary School's acousmatic, concrete sounds and Fake Mistress's unique voice, the two collaborate to form a restrained yet expressive live soundscape that layers urgent whispers over beautifully distorted dictaphone melodies and vocal symphonies over moving seas of static.
Fake Mistress is a Berlin based, classically trained vocalist who has moved into performances that now encompass theatre and costume as well as her remarkable live vocal production techniques. She is part of the Fake Family and also plays with CD Kreisverband Friedrichshain.
Preslav Literary School specialises in composition for magnetic tape, using several playback devices live to broadcast and mix pre-recorded experiments, environmental sounds and found cassette music into compelling lo-fi operas. He lives in Berlin.
***
Thanks to Funkwelle FM, who broadcasted live on 95,2 MHz in Berlin from 21. Juli to 17. August 2008 (http://www.funkwelle.org) and to all at the wonderful Salon Bruit, a non-profit platform and meeting place for people interested and working in audio and video experiments (http://salonbruit.blogspot.com).
